I always love checking out the new varieties of epimedium and Lenten rose. What’s your favorite plant to check out at the fair?

Hey there! I told you we are going to be at Gardenpalooza and I figured out how to give you a reminder for the event! Just in case you’re like me and you’re likely to forget about a great event until it’s too late. Especially if the weather is great and the garden is calling!

Come let us know what kind of weeder you are- a cutter or a puller? Or maybe a little bit of both? My favorite answer- it depends!

Hope to see you there!! April 1 starting at 8 AM

For those of you who are new to Red Pig Garden Tools, WELCOME! Our IG was recently hacked and we are populating our feed with some of our favorite old posts. And sinc it's been a while, let's get reacquainted.

We are an artisan craft maker based in Oregon, just outside of Portland. Currently, we have one master blacksmith, Seth, and one apprentice, Nick, making all of the tools. We source our materials from the US and the tools are hand-made here in our shop. Most of the tools are purchased and shipped around the US, but if you are local or happen to be in the area, you can come by to see where they are made. We also attend a few local garden shows and love to chat about ergonomics and tool history with our customers.

If you are in the area, we hope to see you at Gardenpalooza next weekend, Saturday, April 1 from 8-3 PM at Bauman's Farm & Garden.

We're a little slow in sharing this. In 2022 we were able to buy an awesome Ameribrade 2x72 belt grinder with the help of RACC and a Make|Learn|Build grant. The extra capacity with the 2nd belt grinder contributed to our ability to grow and expand into a new, larger workshop. Thank you, RACC and all our supporters who buy hand forged garden tools from us!

1️⃣ new grinder set up in the old shop in 2022
2️⃣ Julian and Nick grinding side by side, in the corner in the garage shop in 2022
3️⃣ the grinders set up in the new shop in 2023
4️⃣ the new shop during move in and organization at the end of last year

If you are local tool pick ups can now be made from the new shop in West Linn. As always, please call ahead of time to be sure someone is available to help you.

Welcome to Red Pig Garden Tools

We make garden tools the old fashioned way...by hand. We use steel, fire, an anvil and good, honest sweat. These hand crafted garden tools are stronger, sharper, and will last longer than any others you can buy, and they are made right here in Oregon, USA.

Although we make and usually have in stock more than two hundred different types of tools, we know that many people have a favorite tool that's worn down and no longer for sale, or memories of a tool grandpa used to use. If we don’t have the garden or agricultural tool you want on our website, let us know and we’ll make it for you—right in our blacksmith shop, where we make all our other tools. We specialize in making hard-to-find and historic styles of tools, along with one-of-a-kind garden tools. We make more long-handled garden tools—like hoes, drags, and spades—than are currently available through our website.

For help ordering online, choosing the right tool, or for general information and inquiries, contact Seth at: [email protected] or 503-479-5571. (Please do leave a message, Seth is probably in the forge or shop making tools if he doesn't answer.)

Retail Store Hours: Beginning July 1, 2019 we are currently looking for a new retail home and studio base for customers of Red Pig Garden Tools to visit us in the Portland area. In the meantime, if you are in the Portland area and want to pick up some tools in person, need a custom tool made or personalized, need a tool fixed or sharpened, or just want to order online and pick up in person to save on shipping, let us know. We can arrange a time for you to swing by our temporary home workshop in Lake Oswego when Seth will be there. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding...and if you have a good idea of a place we might want to call our new home, please let use know!
