The best kit isn’t the one with the most gear. It’s the one where every item earns its spot.

Most of what’s here earns its keep on ordinary days. Trauma shears and a good blade cut, strip, and pry through almost whatever needs it. On the first aid side, the minor wound care kit is probably the most likely thing in the bag to actually get used.
The rest is gear you’d rather not need. C-A-T and QuikClot, two vented chest seals, battle wrap, precut tape, emergency blanket, gloves (more useful than you think), and a pistol and spare mag.

It’s worth pointing out what’s not in here too. No needle decompression, no surgical airway, none of the advanced stuff. Not because it doesn’t work, but because carrying gear you aren’t trained and current on isn’t a capability, it’s a liability. Carry what you know and always be a student.

TQs are only half the battle.

One of the biggest challenges we see in law enforcement is balancing medical capability with limited space on a duty belt or vest.

A tourniquet is essential, but traumatic injuries are not limited to extremity hemorrhage. Junctional wounds to the groin, armpit, and neck cannot be treated with a TQ alone, and chest wounds require different gear.

That means officers still need room for gauze, pressure dressings, chest seals, and the other components needed to manage those injuries.
The challenge is carrying those capabilities without adding unnecessary bulk or interfering with the rest of your equipment.
