📚 A few people have asked a very fair question:

"Will this support help Story Keepers Books survive, or is it just delaying the end?"

We want to answer that honestly.

The challenge we're facing isn't a lack of growth. We've already surpassed our sales through September of last year, and we've seen growth every quarter since opening.

The challenge is runway.

Like many new businesses, we relied on startup funds to get through our earliest months. Those funds ran out, and while the store continues to grow, we need help bridging the gap to becoming self-sustaining.

We can't promise the future, but we're not asking for help to delay the inevitable. We're asking because we've seen the growth and believe there is a path forward.

We want to thank everyone so much.

Erin and I have been truly touched by all of the love and support we've received through comments, messages, shares, donations, and purchases. We believed we created something special with Story Keepers Books, and your support has shown us that we were right.

So far, we've raised over $1,000. We still have a long way to go, but we're that much closer to continuing what we do.

To everyone who has reached out personally, thank you. We see your messages and appreciate each one.

Our Save Our Store Sale is still going strong, with 50% off all used books. I'm also working hard to add more inventory to the website (storykeepersbooks.com) for those who would like to support us but can't make it into the store. You can also support us through Bookshop.org and Libro.fm if you're looking for a new book or audiobook. Every purchase, donation, share, and word of encouragement helps.

This bookstore has been a dream come true for us. Over the past year and a half, Story Keepers Books has become more than just a place to buy books—it has become a community. We've hosted author events, book clubs, classes, and made so many wonderful friends along the way.

Today, we're asking for your help.
We need to raise $7,500 by June 28 to keep Story Keepers Books open. Without immediate support, we risk losing the store we've worked so hard to build.

📚✨ Local Author Spotlight: Mary Ann Noe

This week we're highlighting Wisconsin author Mary Ann Noe, a retired high school English and psychology teacher whose writing career includes novels, short fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

A Pushcart Prize nominee whose work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, Mary Ann is perhaps best known to our customers for her mysteries. We currently carry several of her novels, including Deserving of Murder, Water the Color of Slate, A Handful of Pearls, Glass Flowers and Diamond Stickpins, To Know Her, as well as her YA novel, Hannah’s Eyes.

One of our favorite things about being an independent bookstore is connecting readers with talented local authors, and we're proud to feature Mary Ann's books on our shelves.

That's exactly why we created the Short Story Society.

Our newest book club is designed for busy readers, curious readers, slow readers, and anyone who enjoys discovering new authors and genres. Instead of reading a single novel, we'll explore a collection of short stories from multiple writers, giving you the freedom to read the stories that interest you most before our discussion.

For our first selection, we'll be reading The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2022, a collection featuring a wide variety of voices, styles, and imaginative storytelling.

On Saturday, June 13, Story Keepers Books will be at the Brookfield Vendor Market at Brookfield Square Mall from 10 AM–2 PM.

We'll be bringing a selection of books, Blind Date with a Book, and gifts from the store. If you're in the Brookfield area, stop by our booth, browse our selection, and say hello!
