What happens when a mother sees her younger self staring back at her through her daughter?

Addison may not have the most screen time in this issue of Ta’Uri, but her presence carries undeniable weight. Amanda Agard shares that Addison is the child who mirrors Tahiya the most — reflecting her younger days, her spirit, and the parts of herself she once was.

That reflection, however, doesn’t come without friction. Addison challenges Tahiya, pushes boundaries, and gives her some of the hardest moments of motherhood — because sometimes the child who resembles us the most is the one who tests us the deepest.

Addison’s story is just beginning, and her impact will only grow.

What does motherhood look like when it’s filtered through innocence, play, and unconditional tenderness?

Cameron, the youngest child in Ta’Uri, represents the softest and most delicate bond Tahiya shares with any of her children. Introduced through a quiet bedtime moment, his presence carries a purity untouched by the weight of what came before.

Amanda Agard explains that Cameron’s youth, playfulness, and lack of memories from an earlier time make him the truest reflection of childhood in the series. He is curiosity without fear, joy without burden, and innocence preserved — a reminder of what still deserves protection.

Cameron isn’t shaped by the past — he is shaped by the hope of what remains.

Carter may be Tahiya’s third youngest, but his presence carries a balance and maturity far beyond his years. Amanda Agard describes him as the calm in the chaos — the steady, academic mind who sees the world with clarity rather than emotion.

Among all her children, Tahiya shares perhaps her most grounded relationship with Carter. His even-keeled nature, quiet intelligence, and neutral temperament create a sense of peace in a family shaped by complexity, struggle, and growth.

Caleb isn’t just the oldest child in the Ta’Uri series — he represents the raw, unfiltered journey of Tahiya becoming a mother for the very first time.

Amanda Agard shares how their bond was shaped by uncertainty, instinct, and the mistakes that come with navigating a role she was never prepared for. Every decision molded not just Caleb, but Tahiya herself — revealing a complex, emotionally charged relationship that echoes the truth of first-time motherhood.

Their story is only beginning to unfold.

What if the very thing that makes you “different”… is actually your superpower?

Ta’Uri author Amanda Agard shares a powerful truth:
Neurodivergent minds don’t just think differently—they experience the world through richer perspectives, deeper sensations, and unique patterns of understanding that many never even notice.

These differences aren’t limitations.
They’re strengths.
They’re creativity.
They’re superpowers.

Because seeing the world differently isn’t a setback—it’s an advantage.

✨ Ta’Uri celebrates those differences—and the brilliance they bring into every space.

I didn’t have one big “aha” moment — it was a series of unexpected events that pushed me to write this book.

A conversation at a cybersecurity conference, a chance meeting with Chris Cooley from Cooley Comics, and one powerful question he asked — “Do you see yourself as the hero or the villain of your own story?” — stayed with me long after the event ended.

💭 Motherhood taught me that no two children are the same — and that truth became one of the biggest inspirations behind writing Ta’Uri.

Even when two children share the same features or grow up under the same roof, their needs, love languages, and ways of being understood are completely unique. 💕

That constant adjustment — learning to communicate, love, and guide differently — mirrors Tahiya's own journey of balancing motherhood, identity, and purpose.

It’s through those lessons that her story, and mine, found their voice.

🎬 “Ta’Uri is more than a story — it’s a reflection of my own journey.”

These are the words of Amanda Agard, the author behind Ta’Uri — a story that explores a woman’s life through every stage: the balance between motherhood and career, the sacrifices made for family, and the courage it takes to prepare your children for a world you can’t always protect them from.

Amanda shares that much of Ta’Uri parallels her own experiences, the push and pull between what we want to do and what we must do, all in the name of love, duty, and growth.

✨ Ta’Uri isn’t just a comic, it’s a mirror of resilience, motherhood, and authenticity.

What if I told you creating an AI comic isn’t about skipping the creative process — but redefining it?

For me, using AI wasn’t a shortcut… it was survival. I almost didn’t make my book at all because the world of comics has always been guarded by hand-drawn tradition. But access matters. And AI gave me the ability to bring my vision to life when finding an illustrator just wasn’t possible.

I spent hours studying prompts, rewriting, testing, and blending images. Thousands of iterations… just to find a handful that truly told the story I saw in my mind. With the help of Chris Cooley from , every image was cropped, overlaid, and refined — not generated in seconds, but crafted through patience and creativity.

AI didn’t replace the art — it expanded what was possible for creators like me.

💭 What do you think? Is AI enhancing creativity or taking away from it?

The AI Debate in Comics 🤖📚

I recently stopped by Fantom Comics in Washington, D.C. to talk with the staff about one of the biggest conversations in the creative world right now — AI in comic art and storytelling.

His take? 👇

“AI takes assets from people who’ve already done the work and spits it out… it cheapens the art.”

While he acknowledges AI can make comic creation more accessible, he believes true art comes from human collaboration, practice, and passion.

💭 What do you think — is AI helping or hurting creativity in comics? Drop your thoughts below!

✨ I had an amazing time visiting Big Planet Comics in Washington, D.C.!

As the creator and writer of Ta’Uri, I’m always excited to connect with local comic communities — and Big Planet Comics has been a pillar in supporting independent creators and comic book culture here in the city.

This visit was all about building relationships, learning more about their incredible legacy, and sharing the vision behind Ta’Uri. I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation and, hopefully one day, seeing Ta’Uri on their shelves! 💫
