Estate Appraisal Completed in Brookeville, Maryland

We recently completed an estate appraisal for the full contents of a home in Brookeville, Maryland.

The executor lived out of state and found Orion's Attic through online searches, including Google and ChatGPT. After visiting the home, we completed and delivered the appraisal in less than a week, helping the family move forward with the estate administration process from a distance.

One of the nicest reviews we've received recently came from someone who never became a full client. After reviewing the project, we felt we weren't the right fit -- and suggested other approaches to the client. We did uncover a few bits of gold and sold those for her, but the rest was all about offering other options. Washington, D.C. Estate Liquidation & Home Cleanout Complete

We recently completed another estate liquidation and home cleanout project in Washington, D.C. This job came to us through a Realtor who frequently refers clients to Orion’s Attic because of our ability to clear homes quickly while making every effort to maximize value and minimize waste. For this project, we identified items suitable for an auction house, donated furniture and household goods whenever possible, and responsibly disposed of what remained.

The home was a three-story townhome with exceptionally tight staircases and challenging turns, but our team successfully emptied the property without a scratch. Whether we're working in a townhome, condo, or single-family residence, our goal is always the same: provide a one-call solution that helps clients move forward with confidence.

A Silver Spring Downsizing Project with a Little of Everything

We recently completed a smaller estate liquidation and home cleanout project right here in Silver Spring. The homeowners had already moved many of their belongings to a new home, but there were still collectibles, household items, and furniture that needed to be thoughtfully handled.

Our team identified several interesting pieces—including vintage posters, a horse saddle, and other collectibles—that were appropriate to take to an auction house, while furniture and household goods were donated to an organization serving families in need. Not every project involves a full house, and we do occasionally take on smaller downsizing and cleanout jobs, especially here in Montgomery County. At Orion's Attic, our goal is always the same: sell what can be sold, donate what can be donated, and keep as much as possible out of the landfill.

When Estate Sale Companies and Auction Houses Aren’t the Right Fit

“My family working on a relative's estate here in Montgomery County -- clearing the house so we can sell it. There's some nice stuff here -- antique Native American rugs, Southwestern jewelry, rare books -- and we need to sell those things. We know you can do that, but we were really encouraged to see your ecoconscious approach to liquidating estates. That is definitely the value we honor as we're parting with his things and rehoming them. Estate sale companies didn't want to do a project here as there's not enough for them. We spoke to some auction houses but they just wanted the best things and would leave us with the rest. Then we found you. I know we could trying to coordinate with a whole bunch of companies and nonprofits, but we love that with you, we're dealing with one company to take care of it all.”
