CAMPING TIP:

Pack for the weather you expect—and the weather you don't.

One of the biggest mistakes first-time campers make is packing for a sunny day and forgetting that summer nights can get surprisingly cool, and storms can roll in fast.

URBAN SURVIVAL TIP:

Your food is only as safe as the container you store it in.

Many people stockpile food but store it in containers that allow moisture, pests, heat, or air to ruin it.

The right container can add years to the life of your emergency food supply.

Best Storage Containers

For Rice, Beans, Pasta & Dry Foods

Food-grade buckets with gasket lids
Mylar bags + oxygen absorbers
Airtight pantry containers

For Everyday Emergency Foods

BPA-free airtight storage bins
Heavy-duty plastic totes with seals

For Long-Term Storage
Mylar bags
Food-grade buckets
Vacuum-sealed bags

Protect from: Moisture, Heat, Pests, Air

If you control those four things, your food supply will last much longer.

Store smart. Eat smart. Stay prepared.

CAMPING TIP:

Set up your tent in the shade whenever possible.

Many first-time campers focus on the view and forget about the sun.

A tent sitting in direct sunlight all day can become an oven by afternoon and stay hot well into the evening.

Why It Matters:

Keeps your tent cooler during the day
Makes afternoon breaks more comfortable
Helps you sleep better at night
Reduces heat buildup inside your gear

Smart Campsite Setup:

Look for morning shade if you're an early riser
Avoid dead branches overhead
Consider where the sun will be in the afternoon
Keep tent doors facing a breeze when possible

Pro Tip:

A shady campsite can feel 10–20 degrees cooler than a tent baking in direct sunlight.

Stay cool. Sleep better. Enjoy the adventure.

URBAN SURVIVAL TIP:
Store what you eat. Eat what you store.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is buying emergency food they'll never actually eat.

During a power outage, supply shortage, or emergency, familiar foods reduce stress and prevent waste.

Build a Smart Food Reserve:

• Canned meats, vegetables, and soups
• Rice, pasta, and oatmeal
• Peanut butter
• Protein bars and trail mix
• Shelf-stable milk
• Electrolyte drinks

The Secret:

Rotate your food supply regularly.
Use older items and replace them with new ones during your normal grocery trips.

A food supply isn't helpful if it's expired when you need it.

Prepare smart. Rotate often. Stay fed.

CAMPING TIP:
Hydrate before you're thirsty.

One of the biggest mistakes new campers make in the summer is waiting until they feel thirsty to drink water.

By the time you're thirsty, you're already starting to get dehydrated.

Summer heat, hiking, setting up camp, and sitting around the fire can cause you to lose more water than you realize.

Smart Summer Camping Rule:
Drink water throughout the day
Carry a water bottle everywhere
Take a few sips every 15–20 minutes when active
Refill whenever you have the opportunity
Signs You're Not Drinking Enough:
Headache
Dizziness
Fatigue
Dark urine
Muscle cramps

A great campsite starts with a hydrated camper.

Stay hydrated. Stay energized. Enjoy the adventure.
