The bags that make strangers laugh, husbands uncomfortable, and church ladies whisper in the BACK. And yes… the best sellers are coming with us.

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE ⚠️ 🌧️💨

Mother Nature is off her meds and has decided to absolutely terrorize Saturday.

Due to forecasted high winds, rain, flying tents, airborne tomatoes, and possible emotional damage… the Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market for Saturday, May 23rd has been CANCELLED.

Quite frankly, we do not have the upper body strength to fight the atmosphere right now.

The vendors would also like to avoid becoming part of a live-action Wizard of Oz remake on Pacific Avenue. 🌪️

Stay home. Eat snacks. Yell at the sky. Sacrifice a lawn chair to the weather gods if necessary.

We’ll see you next Saturday for fresh produce, baked goods, shopping, and hopefully significantly less nonsense from Mother Nature. 🌻🛍️

🚨 ATTENTION HOT MESS EXPRESS PASSENGERS 🚨

This Saturday we gather once again at the Downtown Wildwood Farmer’s Market to make questionable financial decisions and pretend buying handmade things counts as self care.

I’ll have repurposed towel, sheet, quilt, and fabric scrap bags made in small batches because apparently I enjoy creating chaos one zipper at a time.

PLUS newly designed bags are coming:

Current status of the studio:
10 inappropriate makeup bags made.
90 more tiny fabric red flags to go.

At this point my sewing machine is filing a formal complaint and the iron has seen things it can never unsee.

Every bag is small batch, original, handmade chaos — cut, sewn, pressed, and assembled one feral little rectangle at a time. Nothing mass produced here. Just me, caffeine, questionable humor, and fabric scraps turning into tiny zippered bad decisions.

Size is 6” x 8” which is apparently the perfect dimension for lip gloss, cash, emotional baggage, or whatever crimes you commit at festivals.

Some are made from repurposed textiles, some from designer fabrics, all made with the energy of:
“this probably shouldn’t exist…but here we are.”

Anyway. If anyone needs me, I’ll be buried under thread, zipper pulls, and my own terrible ideas trying to crank out the remaining 90 before the show. Pray for the rotary cutter.

Kookabarn update: she’s looking real calm right now… don’t trust her.

Sign is up and screaming KOOKABARN like it pays rent 💚
Carpet coming next so I can stop raw-dogging this cold, dusty floor
Mini split ready to go in because I refuse to sweat like a sinner in a sauna
Sewing machines moving in soon… aka the peace in this room is on borrowed time

Right now it’s giving “clean girl aesthetic”
In about 5 minutes it’ll be “feral raccoon with a fabric addiction”

This empty floor? Enjoy it.
It’s about to be buried in scraps, thread, bad decisions, and unhinged creations.

Massive shoutout to for wiring this chaos chamber, my husband Dave for doing literally EVERYTHING ELSE (send help), and for the sign that understood the assignment 💥

Ocean City chose violence today. 🌬️😂

The wind is feral, but Springfest is still ON because a little weather drama never stopped anybody.

Come stroll the tents, shop small, grab food, sip something fun, hear live music, and let the ocean personally rearrange your hairstyle.

I’ll be out here April 23–26 at Tent 6, Booth 1 — parallel with the sea (yes, ocean breeze + unhinged goods = a spiritual experience).

The tents aren’t labeled on the outside because apparently we like to keep things spicy…
SO you’re gonna have to peek inside and look up for the booth numbers like a nosy little raccoon.

This isn’t a sewing room anymore… it’s a full-blown crime scene.

One rogue dachshund.
One ball.
Zero respect for personal space or organizational systems.

And here’s the thing—he is FULLY capable of getting the ball himself.
He pushes it under the shelves. On purpose. Makes direct eye contact while doing it.
Then… instead of retrieving it like the independent king he could be… he chooses violence (aka barking at me like I work for him).

Fabric stacks? Scattered everywhere.
Bins? Disheveled.
Me? Crawling on the floor doing unpaid ball retrieval services.

The chaos. The audacity. The tiny legs with a full customer service attitude.

Anyway… if you need me, I’ll be running a one-woman “fetch department” while he supervises and complains like management 🐾

At 56, I’m finally landing exactly where I’m meant to be.

I’ve spent a lifetime changing directions—some by choice, some by necessity. There were phases I didn’t understand, didn’t appreciate, and honestly didn’t even like. But every one of them quietly led me here.

My dream was always simple: design clothing and have my own little surf shack.

I’ve always loved surfing… or at least the idea of it. Watching it, living it, romanticizing it. Actually doing it? Still very much a kook. I never practiced enough to move past that beginner phase—and that’s exactly where the name Kookabarn was born.

What started as hand-drawn patterns and one original beach bag slowly grew into makeup bags, purses, and something much bigger than I ever expected.

And now… my little surf shack is finally underway.

Clothing is coming. One-of-a-kind pieces. Small drops. Things made with intention, history, and a whole lot of soul.

Turns out all those twists and turns weren’t detours after all—they were the design.

Kookabarn is just getting started 🌊
