Big things are happening for AmbiDex Labs.

Over the last year, one particular side of my work has really taken on an identity of its own. The gothic decor. The dark fantasy curios. The bookish relics. The strange little artifacts and beautifully nerdy creations for fellow creatures of the shadows. So it’s time to give that side of AmbiDex a name that truly fits it.

Obscura by AmbiDex is officially emerging from the shadows.

While AmbiDex Labs will still exist as the larger creative umbrella behind everything I make, Obscura will now become the home for the dark fantasy, gothic, and bookish side of the brand many of you already know and love.

This next chapter feels a little bigger, a little clearer, and much more intentional. And next week, Obscura takes a very exciting step forward. 👁

NEW Dragon book counter from CraftyKid3D looking like it was made to go with one of Kraken Designs 3D shelves! This gorgeous design features a spot in the back for an LED tea light, giving it a beautiful stained glass glow, and storage space for the extra number counters.

Custom orders for these open tomorrow,and I will have ONE pre-made available for a lucky someone to snag Springs Moon Market!

Moon Market visitors will also get early access to a brand new design a few weeks before the official model launch. The designer was kind enough to let me test it and bring it early because it's such a perfect fit for the market... and it's going to make an incredible wearable piece for summer! Any guesses what it might be?

Things may be quiet from me right now, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! As April wraps up, I’ve got my head down and I’m sprinting for some finish lines.

On the printers: Special assignment for some lucky Ellicott elementary students, prints for a local soap maker, and preparation for Colorado Springs Moon Market on May 2!

Add writing my capstone report and creating a complete eLearning course for grad school, and a few massive personal family history projects? Send good vibes and caffeine!

So… apparently the magnets in my air planters are stronger than I realized. Let me introduce you to Fredward.

After getting home from Saturday’s Colorado Springs Moon Market, this little guy fell out of the car while I was unloading. I stuck him on the side of my car so I’d see him and grab him before going inside.

Fast forward to Wednesday. I’m walking back to my car after dropping off a Classroom Curio Box for a fourth-grade classroom at Springs Ranch Elementary… and what do I see?

FREDWARD.

Still there. A little windblown, but otherwise perfectly fine.
And mind you, I even subbed in Ellicott this week. You’re telling me this little guy held on through a field trip down Powers AND Highway 94?!

So if you’ve ever wondered whether the magnets on these air planters actually hold… the answer is yes.

Fredward himself is no longer for sale. He has officially earned permanent residence on our fridge. However, he does have plenty of siblings looking for a much less adventurous trip to their forever homes.

Note: I do not recommend keeping your air plants on the outside of your car. The wind, sun, and general chaos of highway speeds are not exactly ideal growing conditions. They could also be quite dangerous if they flew off. Fredward tested fate.

WOW! Thank you all for showing up and supporting me and my small business. I was blown away by kindness and curiosity of shoppers and vendors yesterday. There were two other "big" events in town yesterday, but you guys chose to support local! I hope to be at future Colorado Springs Moon Markets with all of my gothic and bookish goodies!
