TheTarot:The Lovers and The Devil by Tom Durbin

In the Tarot, one of the puzzling and mysterious relationships among the cards is that of The Lovers and The Devil. The cards appear to be somewhat mirror images and yet diametrically opposite. On the one hand you have The Lovers, an existence in innocence, the Garden of Eden, and on the other you have The Devil, an opposite existence in which the two figures (the lovers) are bound by chains to the throne of the devil. What is the meaning of these two apparently opposing cards. What is the mystery that the Tarot is attempting to teach us?

CARING FOR CRYSTALS . More from Magical Blend interview.

Crystals do attract and hold energy, whether they are worn, carried in a pouch or sit around the house, so every once in a while it's nice to "clean" them. I like to burn native sage that we collect in the mountains or high deserts of California and move the crystal through the smoke until I feel it is clear. I also like to put crystals in a running stream when we go into the mountains. You can take them to the ocean as well or put them in salt for a while.

To choose a stone check out what you are attracted to, what colors draw you. Get that color in front of your eyes and see how it feels. After all, it's an attraction to beauty and what is beauty?
The foundations of beauty are harmony,proportion and balance -mundane and yet very spiritual values. So it is always a perfect key to what will bring light into your life.
What is beautiful to you will always be what's healing to you,what balances you. The best use of stones is for balancing energy before you get sick,while you're essentially feeling good.
The healing may be short term and it may even appear negative for a
time. It may do something that upsets your whole apple cart -and maybe you
need to have your apple cart upset in terms of change or transformation. You're honoring your own inner voice and affirming your relationship to
mother earth because that's where the stones come from.
My whole slant on the mineral world is that it's ridiculous to mystify it in any way. it's the most accessible psychic realm and it's not even outside your body because our bodies contain minerals.

Stones of similar color are recognized as having corresponding attributes.

For instance,a red stone brings that color into your aura in a very grounded way .It will relate to the physical dimension and make you more aware of your body as it has association with the blood. It will also make it easier to fall in love and increase vitality.

A green stone enhances the balancing of your energy. You can integrate and organize better.You become more aware of hierarchies and structure.

Blue stones enrich the spirit. Sapphire rings have always been worn by cardinals and popes.They have ancient associations with the law and with wisdom, which is the gaining of knowledge through experience.

Yellow stones such as topaz and amber tend to relate to creativity and expression in both the mental and physical realms.

It's interesting to note that amethyst is what I call a very "active"stone right now. People are really attracted to it. It represents a dimension of Venus-a strong sense of love which is grounded in the body yet reaches way out into the spirit.The color of amethyst,which ranges from pale to deep violet,is the last color in the spectrum of the rainbow,the color which is seen closest to earth thus suggesting the bridge between the spirit and the body. We're all in transition right now, crossing that bridge and amethyst is a good tool for assisting that transition.

She has been seen as beautiful and disgusting,old and young,chaste and lustful,funny and sad,compassionate and fierce. The Goddess never divided light from dark and called one good and the other evil.Being the mother of the world,the mother of all things,she accepts all as being part of the fabric of reality and emanates love as the organizing and compelling force responsible for the abundance that is evolution. Her flower after all,is the rose, her fruit the pomegranate. Her work is always abundance and variety.She is ever fruitful,endlessly and profoundly beautiful. When we walk barefoot on the grass it is her flesh we feel; when we see a sunset or look at the stars it is her dream we are dreaming.

In everywoman (and everyman too!) she is the whisper within that speaks for the force of life,that says yes to all creative possibility. She is the energetic affirmation and divine dream of nature. She is the one within who is ever pregnant with the next generation,whether of an idea,a work of art or a child.She is never other than the very earth we live in,the people we touch the air we breathe,the song we sing. Never an abstraction or an idea,she is always embodied and if we wish to honor her,to follow her truth,her path,then it is in the moment to moment creation of our lives that we must do so.

When we create beauty and fight for truth,when we enter our lives with love,we are not only honoring Goddess,we are being and creating Goddess,and in so doing,being and creating ourselves.
May these little dancers,when you wear them or just look at them,remind you of the sacred dance that is our lives and give you some measure of empowerment to embody in outward form,the Goddess within.

A Note About "Natural" and "Faceted" Crystals.

By "natural" crystals, we mean that these stones that are presented as they have actually come from the earth. The facets (faces) are as they are formed by nature and have not been touched by tools.

Most crystals on the market are faceted by hand, that is, they are cut from large slabs of naturally occurring material which are then shaped to give them the appearance of "natural" crystals. Although the material from which they are cut is naturally occurring the individual pieces have been shaped by hand.

The resulting pieces are nearly always straight-sided, smooth-faced and perfect. The crystals grown in the earth are more irregular in shape, often with more facets, frequently exhibit various inclusions and are rarely perfect in the sense of being entirely unshaped by human hands.
