Miyagi Education ⛩️🎒
For the past three years, we’ve been quietly building something alongside the shop — teaching, learning, and growing with our community through DJ and production classes, open sessions, and shared time around music. What started as an extension of Miyagi Records is now stepping forward with its own name and direction.
formalizes that work: a school rooted in sound, culture, and access, with a long-term vision of becoming a nonprofit dedicated to making music education more open, sustainable, and community-driven.
Our mark reflects that intention. It incorporates the Japanese shoshinsha symbol — traditionally used to signify a beginner — and centers the idea of “beginner’s mind.” Not as a phase to move beyond, but as a practice to return to: staying open, curious, and willing to learn at every stage.
Whether you’re touching turntables for the first time or refining something you’ve been building for years, that mindset shapes how we teach, how we show up, and how we build with others.
This is us stepping into that work more fully — giving it structure, space, and a future beyond the shop.
