The film breaks down how the products we use closest to our bodies can be a daily source of phthalates, BPA, and hormone-disrupting chemicals absorbed right through your skin.

The good news? The bathroom is one of the easiest rooms to detox. Start here:

✅ Toothpaste tablets > plastic tubes
✅ Bamboo floss in refillable container > nylon floss in plastic
✅ Bamboo + castor oil toothbrush > plastic + nylon
✅ Natural deodorant in paperboard > plastic w/ synthetic fragrance + aluminum
✅ Shampoo + conditioner bars > plastic bottled shampoo + conditioners with phthalates

The film proved that even small changes in your daily routine can add up to a real reduction in your exposure.

Instead of playing the guessing game, I took one of each of our bamboo mason jar lids: standard + wide mouth to the thrift store to see what unique jars I could find!

I do generally just reuse jars that come with foods I already eat, but this was a fun way to find something a little more unique for either household storage or drinking cups!

While we absolutely LOVE that Earth Month gets more people thinking, talking and sharing about earth friendly activities and environmental action, it is something we all need to be advocating for every month…because we live here 🌍

If “The Plastic Detox” on Netflix had you doing a full kitchen audit last night, same. 🙋

The documentary shows how everyday plastic items (from cookware to utensils to food wrap) can leach hormone-disrupting chemicals like BPAs and phthalates right into your food. The good news? The swaps are simple.

Start with these Eco Kitchen Swaps:
✅ Glass > plastic bottles
✅ Cast iron > Teflon
✅ Bamboo/wood utensils > black plastic
✅ Plant-based wax wraps > cling wrap
✅ Bamboo dish brushes > plastic sponges

Black plastic utensils are especially sneaky. They’re often made from recycled electronics and have some of the highest microplastic shedding rates. Toss ’em.
