🫐🫐Blueberry customers please read 🫐🫐

Wow. Just… WOW.

We want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our season opening U-Pick blueberry day. The turnout was beyond anything we expected!

In fact, we sold nearly 18% of our entire 2025 blueberry picking season in a single day. To put that into perspective, that’s from over 500 blueberry bushes, and our ripest berries were picked almost clean.

As much as we’d love to stay open, blueberries don’t ripen overnight. We need to give the bushes a few days to catch up and produce another good crop of ripe berries for everyone to enjoy.

Because of that, our U-Pick blueberry field will be CLOSED tomorrow and for the first part of next week. We’ll keep a close eye on the berries and post updates as soon as we’re ready to reopen.

We know some folks may be disappointed, but we’d rather temporarily close than have people drive out here only to find slim pickings.

Thank you again for supporting our family farm and making our blueberry season such a tremendous success. The bushes are already hard at work growing the next round of sweet, juicy berries, and we’ll be back picking again before you know it!

Stay tuned for reopening updates!

🫐 U-PICK BLUEBERRIES ARE NOW OPEN! 🫐

The wait is over! Our blueberry field is officially open for the season, and the berries are looking fantastic. If you’ve been waiting for sweet, fresh, sun-ripened blueberries picked straight from the bush, now is the time!

🌅 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
🌆 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Sunday:
🌅 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
🌆 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

(We are closed between afternoon and evening picking sessions each day.)

Before you head out, here are a few tips to make your visit more enjoyable:

☀️ Bring sunscreen and a hat. The blueberry field is out in the open and the summer sun can be strong.

👟 Wear sneakers or gardening boots. Wearing open toed shoes or flip-flops will likely get you a bunch of unwanted bug bites.

💧 Stay hydrated! We recommend bringing cold water with you. We do have bottled water available for $1 each.

🦟 Bring bug spray. We are out in the country, and the bugs enjoy the outdoors just as much as we do.

A few friendly etiquette reminders:

🚗 Please park down at the greenhouse only. look for the welcome enter here sign, drive down that driveway and you will see the parking lot in front of the big Greenhouse.

🕒 Please respect our posted hours. If the gate is closed, we are closed.

⛔ Please do not cross any yellow chains, gates, or restricted areas. Please always stay off of all vehicles and farm equipment. Accidents can happen very quick.

⚡ The fence around the cow pasture is electric. Trust us—you don’t need to test how powerful it is. If you would like to experience our cows up close and personal, please ask and if we are not too busy, we will let you meet our girls.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Please keep an eye on your children at all times. We want everyone to have a fun and safe visit.

📸 We absolutely welcome personal photography and love seeing the memories our guests make here! However, professional photography sessions must be pre-approved before arrival.

🫐 Feel free to sample a berry or two to see how the flavor changes as berries ripen. That’s part of the experience! However, eating berries while you pick isn’t fair to other guests or to the farm. Excessive snacking while picking may result in being asked to leave.

These reminders aren’t rules we dreamed up one day—they all come from real experiences we’ve had over the years. Following them helps us keep the farm safe, enjoyable, and open for everyone.

We can’t wait to see you in the field. Grab a bucket, bring the family, and come enjoy some of the freshest blueberries Frederick County has to offer! 🫐❤️

We will be CLOSED Monday, June 8.

Why?

Because after working 7 days a week since November, Mallory has officially decided she needs a day off. Her plans are simple: get a pedicure and take a mid-morning nap. Honestly, we couldn’t argue with either of those.

As many of you know, our growing season doesn’t start in the spring—it starts in November. While most people are gearing up for the holidays, we’re planting the first seeds for the following year’s crop. From that point forward, the 7-day work weeks begin and don’t stop until the greenhouse closes for the season.

Between planting, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, scouting for pests and disease, maintaining equipment, helping customers, and keeping thousands upon thousands of plants happy, there really aren’t many days off around here.

So Monday belongs to Mallory.

Enjoy the pedicure. Enjoy the nap. And don’t answer your phone.

We’ll see everyone again on Tuesday! 🌱❤️

Our fearless leader was in full OCD mode today 🙄… inspecting, organizing, spacing, checking leaves, and making sure every single mum is exactly where it needs to be.

Every mum is organized and potted based on bloom week, and when the timing is right they’ll head out to the mum field!

Most people don’t realize mums are actually bred and programmed to bloom during specific weeks based on daylight hours. As the days get shorter, the plants know it’s time to start setting buds. That’s why growers carefully select varieties by bloom timing so fields are exploding with color right when fall season hits.

But getting them there takes constant attention. Rainy stretches like what we all just experienced can create the perfect environment for fungal disease, and an outbreak can wipe out an entire crop worth tens of thousands of dollars before you even know what happened. We constantly inspect foliage, monitor plant health, improve airflow, and proactively treat to protect the crop. We even use systemic treatments that help strengthen the plant internally.

Growing giant, healthy mums isn’t luck. It’s months of timing, science, monitoring, and nonstop care.

Mum growing season has officially kicked off at Green Valley Harvesters! 🌼

Last week we planted the first 400 mum plugs of the season, and this week another 2,000 are going in! Before you know it, the grow field will be packed wall-to-wall with color for fall. We have over a thousand colorful ornamental cabbage/kale, huge Celosia and ornamental peppers.

One thing a lot of people may not know is that we grow most every single mum/plant we sell right here at Green Valley Harvesters. From tiny plugs to the huge fall mums you take home in September, we handle the growing ourselves every step of the way.

Behind the scenes, growing giant fall mums is part science, part art. Our mums are grown using computer-controlled irrigation systems and specialized monitoring equipment that constantly measures fertilizer levels and water quality. We carefully fine-tune nutrition down to just a few parts per million in every drop of water the plants receive. That level of precision is one of the biggest reasons we’re able to grow the massive, premium-quality mums we’re known for every fall.

Mums are one of the best plants for fall color because they thrive in cooler temperatures, bloom for weeks, and absolutely explode with color when the autumn weather arrives. With proper watering and sunshine, they can stay beautiful well into fall.

It may feel early to be talking about fall mums… but around here, mum season starts in spring! 🍂
