Twas the Night Before Christmas - a Brand Designer's version.

I wrote this last year, and it still rings true a year later! I am so incredibly thankful to each and every one of my clients this year!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We worked on 6 full brands and 3 rebrands of past clients, 7 websites and 5 retainer clients in 2021, not to mention the countless custom projects that we do each year in the fringe hours.

I am currently creating some brand illustrations for and one of the tricks with creating illustrations for a brand is determining the overall style they are going to be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are actually building out a suite of illustrations so that she can use them throughout her marketing materials, website and social media, so we are having to match up the style with illustrations that she already has, which is a fun challenge!

If you’re a freelance designer and need more work, graduated college in the last 1-3 years and looking for experience, if you work part or full time and want to eventually start your own design business, this job is for you!!

Contract designer position: 15-20 hrs a week!

You’ll be working on a variety of projects with a variety of clients! From logos, to print, to social media graphics, web banners snd actual websites, you’ll learn the technical side of design and also the process that I go through with each project to make sure it’s ready for the client!

Creating a clear vision is essential to creating anything that will reflect your goals and the value that you bring. That’s where questionnaires, client briefs, strategy calls and moodboards come in.

Your moodboard not only reflects the look you’re trying to get (the “horse”, if you will), but more importantly the emotion and feeling you are wanting your customers to get when using your service or product.

Is that “wildness”? Or comfort? Or confidence? What is the end goal to how you make your customer’s lives better and how they feel about it? That’s what your moodboard should be about!

I was talking to someone this week about how our communities have been impacted because of coronavirus. The saddest thing to me is seeing how it’s impacted the small businesses. I would definitely be sad if anything were to happen to Target, let’s just be honest, but I would be even sadder to see a beloved small business close because of this.

The heart of my business is supporting the entrepreneurs that run our quirky, edgy, warm, and fun coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants and stores.

These are the places that we spend our free time, meet up with friends, take out of town guests and go when we are needing a pick me up. And they are run by people who had an idea and took a risk to share their passion with others. And that is who my services are for. That is who make the creative process so fun and worthwhile.

The first part of the design process is always laying the foundation for the aesthetics.

You can’t have a meaningful and purposeful brand, color palette, fonts, illustrations, website, etc without building the foundation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what is a foundation?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s your goals, your competitive advantage, your target market, your business style, and your legacy and how you want to achieve each of them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What i like to do is bring both sides of the brain together. We create a vision full of feeling and then create measurable goals on how we will get there during the process.
