The handle on my trusty Swanstrom Disk cutter broke and now my sheet of silver is stuck!!!

Has this happened to any of my metalsmithing friends? If so—any ideas on how to get the metal unstuck without tearing up the disk cutter? I’m ordering a new handle.

The past few days have been a bit difficult dealing with all the storm damage, but today reminded me that through our toughest storms comes resilience. I was surprised this morning to see my beautiful fennel plant standing tall and proud after taking one helluva beating from Friday’s hail storm. I know her roots dug in deep and while her top might have taken full force of the storm, she stayed true.

It was a bit of a rough evening. We had a major hail storm come through and caused a lot of damage to our gardens and landscaping. We also had some damage to the outside of our home and we’ll have the roof inspected later in the week.

Fortunately—I was able to get the dogs in just in time! Unfortunately—my aloe Vera plant, Oakleaf Hydrange and Japanese Maple all sustained major damage, along with the garden and orchard. I’m hoping that with time the gardens will recover.

My studio is okay and no one was hurt. We are still without power—which I hope we get back on soon.
