As most of my regular customers know, we closed the Retail Store three years ago. But I am still answering the phone and selling from a home based business, simply because I enjoy the customer interactions.
Well, the calls I am now receiving can be interesting and I try to deal with questions about the Flag with political impartiality as much as I can.
I just got off the phone with a nice lady who was upset that her next door neighbor appeared to have shortened his flagpole enough that the US Flag was dragging the ground. She seemed to think that he was doing it intentionally to protest the current Administration in Washington. She told me that she had called the Party headquarters here in Tucson about if there were any way that they could help her enforce the Flag Code. They rightly pointed out that the Flag Code is simply a set of suggested rules for the display and it really can't be enforced.
She then asked for my suggestions. First I said get him a new Flag that fits his pole. "I don't really have contact with him, and he is doing it intentionally." So I suggested that she fly her flag correctly as a counter to his flying incorrectly. "Thanks, that is exactly the type of solution I was looking for". So problem identified and an easy solution found.
Now make sure you are flying your flag correctly.. If you need a new one, give me a call. I am keeping a small selection on hand.
