Happy New Year! I got called into this weekend for some poodle mixes that desperately needed some help. This is Macy and Trex. They were absolutely the sweetest things. They knew I was helping them and gave kisses for the hours I spent freeing them of this mess. I shaved off 11 lbs of hair off of just Trex alone. Even though I was in tears and a state of shock when I began grooming them, that feeling soon turned into peace because I knew I was meant to be there to help them. ❤️

I took the dogs to the United States Botanic Garden today in Washington DC and walked around outside. Unfortunately many of the gardens outside were closed for renovation but it was still pretty.

I volunteered for today for an adoption event they had at Ronnie Van Zant Memorial Park. We had numerous adoptions today but the two dogs with the longest stay record there are still needing a home.

Tugboat is 6-8ish years old and has been at the shelter since January. She is a quiet dog who keeps to herself and walks well on a leash. She is an older girl who just wants a nice place to live out the rest of her days. She doesn't like other dogs in her face and if going to another home with dogs she needs to be tested to see if they are a good fit.

Buster is 2-5 years old and another dog that has been at the shelter for a very long time. He has been there since last Thanksgiving. He would be thankful for a home with someone who is home everyday as he has anxiety. Another quiet home is needed for him. He prefers to be an only dog in the home and your only animal friend. He is slow to trust and would flourish in the right environment. That environment just isn't a loud and crowded animal shelter.

If anyone in the Jacksonville, FL area (Clay County or Duval County in North Florida) is interested in adopting a dog that really needs it and you think your home is a good fit for one of them, please contact Clay County Animal Services in Green Cove Springs, FL.

UPDATE: They've been adopted! 😁
When you find twin kittens in a bush outside, naturally one names them after their best friends who are twins. I'd like everyone to meet Sam and Claire. I fostered them for a few weeks. They were pretty feral and scared. Now they play with feather toys and purr for all the pets. I clipped their nails last night and they rolled over and purred for it. They arrived today at and are now awaiting their forever home. 🩷💙

Violet sunbathing in the Florida native frogfruit...

I'm converting Treebark Pets towards more plant and pet related, which has always been my goal. If that is your cup of tea, you're welcome to join me on my journey. I'm slowly converting my yard to having more Florida native plants. By doing this it creates a lower maintainance yard while also benefiting the environment. I'm slowly hand pulling all the grass from an area of my yard to let the frogfruit fill in! The little flowers are much prettier than just looking at grass that's for sure.

So, I went to Clay County Animal Services today for a grooming emergency. The shelter named him Harvey and he was brought in as a stray.

He was very grumpy at first, was growling and not wanting me to touch him. I don't blame him. I discovered sand spur encased matting around his feet and face and an old flea collar trapped in his hair. After his groom today, he ate his lunch and gave me a thank you kiss on my nose. For that reason is why I can never stop grooming homeless animals. They just need someone to help them.

If you want to follow me on my journey of helping homeless animals and also caring about the environment, add me on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. ❤️

I know I've been taking a break from grooming but I got a message from Clay County Animal Services today saying they needed me. This is Arnold. He was found near a garbage dump. His microchip said he was 24 years old and his owner hasn't responded to any calls.

Well Arnold, I hope you enjoy the rest of your old doggie life in a new home soon. If you'd like to adopt or take Arnold into your rescue, please contact Clay County Animal Services

If you know of a dog in desperate need of grooming that is in a rescue or shelter and in need of a home in North FL near the Jacksonville area, please always message me.
