Custom made CNC cut wood signs/artwork for sale from “HoodSigns”

[email protected]

I am a CNC woodworker, specializing in custom cut/painted signs and artwork. My machine will easily mill aluminum, but I have settled on wood as a sign format. I have been perfecting my wood sign finishing technique over the last 2 years…and am now available for custom requests. The signs are great if you are lo

oking for a ‘one-of-a-kind’ item to promote your business, or are simply interested in a unique gift item. Unfortunately- some of the signs are not available for sale online, but they show the quality of my work (legal disclaimer: these are my personal wood signs)

The wood signs are painted with several coats of paint, and several coats of clear coat. I can usually complete 1 sign in 7-10 days due to the finishing process (dry times between coats). I prefer to manufacture sign designs about 23”x11”. These signs fit comfortably in a USPS Priority Mail “Board Game” box. The largest sign I can make is about 24” x 30”- if requiring a high quality (milled) finish. I also have the capability of manufacturing a 30” wide (unlimited ‘realistic’ length) sign, due to the nature of my machine design. Let me know your ideas? The sign price ($) is dependent on a number of factors:

• Design work/complexity
• Cutting time on machine
• Size
• Sign material
• Colors
• Finish work desired (stain/clear coats)

As a general rule- my sign prices for an oval 11x14 -11x24 sign(art) range from $35-$80…(totally depending on the related factors). The Harley Davidson / Oregon Ducks 15”x11” Sign would be on the lower end($)…the Seahawks sign 24’x11”(with letters), would be on the higher end($). This is a general example of pricing/depending on factors (if I were able to legally sell these signs online)

I am usually not willing to small jobs…unless they involve multiples. An example would be a custom $10 “No soliciting” sign….unless I made several copies at once. Message me thru [email protected] or search HoodSigns on Facebook

A request from a friend for a quality "house #" sign. I designed this 6" x 12" sign this out of cedar, and finished it with a weather resistant shellac. I actually haven't done one of these before. The shellac finish turned out nice...

I've had a few questions recently- regarding my
ability to machine and/or engrave aluminum...the answer is yes. The skull is carved out of 1/4" aluminum plate, with extremely high accuracy. I actually milled this test piece around 3 years ago, when I was still learning CNC operations.

A slight delay on getting my door sign venture project started...so I decided to add to my Halloween LED gravestone yard display. I picked up a free piece of 1" formica countertop from a business next door to my work. I photoshopped a couple of skeleton pictures, then ran them through my CAD design/carving setup. I covered them with an ebony wood stain, and used lacquer thinner to wipe off the white skeleton portions. Interesting experiment, but I'm never going to do another formica carving again...the glue in the countertop actually started to catch on fire from the carving bit at 20k rpm. oops.

In honor of "Fathers Day" 2017, I have created an original sign design. I would be lying, if I denied gaining inspiration from our own family(s) ;-). I have also designed the sign to be slightly customized. Let me know your ideas? Any other sign ideas? Let me know! Thank You- for your interest in my wood signs. Jeff Porter (HoodSigns)
