Solid dish soap is popular right now.
The recipes are easy, but the making can be a challenge.
If you're using mostly coconut oil, it's going to harden REALLY fast. Put it in individual molds or be prepared to cut it while it's still warm!

(Copied from my neighborhood page for residents of St. Louis, MO. Your opinion is wanted!)
With $500 million from the American Rescue Plan heading to St. Louis, our city has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reinvest in our neighborhoods. This weekend, St. Louis released a digital survey for residents to weigh in on their priorities for how elected leaders should allocate the remaining $250 million in federal American Rescue Plan funding heading to the city. We are also looking to hold roundtables, town halls, and other in-person meetings to solicit feedback.
The survey is broken into seven main categories: Household assistance; neighborhood transformation; economic empowerment; government services; support for children and youth; public health; and infrastructure improvements.

One year ago, I made these boozy fruitcake soaps to give my family as holiday gifts. The citrus in the "fruit" embeds was overwhelming the rest of the bar. It mellowed out in about a month.. I still have one left and it smells amazing. I learned that my CP soap dissolves in water at a slightly faster rate than the commercial MP soap.
And then I made another batch as hot process with CP "nuts" and melt & pour "candied fruits"
I learned that MP embeds melt in the hot soap (expected) and squeeze through the tiniest cracks to flow to the bottom and sides of the mold. Unexpected! Don't use melt and pour in hot process soap.
Further experimentation taught me that while I *can* rebatch the whole thing and mix the MP in well enough; I *shouldn't* It makes for a plasticy feeling bar.

I sometimes share vending space with Kate of Fishbowl Designs. She's released a new batch of ID holders. They're big enough to hold a standard US vax card and they're less than $20! When you add in the 20% Labor Day discount, it's a bargain you shouldn't pass up. Did I mention that many of the fabric designs are unique to Fishbowl Designs? Many of the fabrics are unique to Fishbowl Designs, 'cause Kate designed them herself.

And here's my first ever soap loaf, from one year ago. Coffee, to go with the coffee bean embeds. What I learned: Yes, you can replace water with coffee and make that your lye liquid. Yes, you can add coffee grounds to make it a scrubby soap. But the beans need to be more finely ground than the average for drip coffee. And the final lesson I learned is that one can make a pretty top with eyeshadow, but it's NOT soaping mica and it's a pain to get off the soap and my skin. 😆
