✨️This is a long one.... 💁🏻♀️✨️We have reflected on every show that we have done, every person who has stopped to see us, to shop and those who squeal with delight when they "find their people". We have wanted to create a post but it's so hard to express the excitement behind these moments, so here goes....
From our first show to our most recent one, we have met so many awesome people, some who have since become friends! 💜
Our first show was small, but mighty at The Rock church. We had a lot of people come to tell us how they love what we have to offer! We made connections with a local artist who for sure will be one we reach out for collaboration in the future!
The Vandergrift Carnival was life changing, honestly. There was a group of 3 teen girls who visited us each day. On our last day, the 1 girl gave us a little felt book she had made for each of us. It was so sweet and we were both touched by her thoughtful gesture. We also met a young girl who was with the petting zoo, she kept coming to visit with her bearded dragon, which was so welcomed. On our last day there, we gifted her some books that were just not in the condition we felt that we could sell, but still had a lot of life left. She teared up and thanked us. Seeing young people who appreciate books and are kind makes us smile! We will always encourage young readers! At the Carnival, we also created a bond with Tiny Cause that has opened many doors to us, we are SO thankful! Connections were also made with The Sia Center!
At the one festival, we met the reptile guy, Iceman. He was fantastic with all the kids, making everyone feel comfortable around his reptiles. Nicole broke through her fear of snakes and held the giant snake! That same very show, there was a man beside us who complained about the lack of sales nonstop but we did pretty awesome because people love what we have!
We attended Vandergrift Pride with our bead bar and everyone loved building their own pen! We didn't have books but people asked where they were! People remembered us from the Carnival! We met so many awesome people, could see the drag show from our tent and worked nonstop, even through horrible wind that tried to take us out more than once!
We attended a function for the Vandergrift library and created mini bookshelves. This isn't necessarily one of our shows, but more connections made and fun was had by us!
The book event by Queen of Hearts Tattoo was a fun indoor event. We got tats ✨️✨️ matching our logo, made connections and made a new friend, Wildchildmoontarot! 💜
At the Ford City Heritage festival, it was HOT and we were sweaty but we hung in there, meeting new people and making more connections! We had to snap a Picture of this little girl who came right in, grabbed a book and sat down to read it. She was so excited and picked out 2 books about the sky! A mom with a toddler in a stroller was looking at books, we gave the little girl a bracelet to distract her and make her happy while mom shopped. Nicole was excited to meet some fellow coho lovers and chatted about her books and movies! One woman even saw our post, screenshot it and told her husband she had to come meet us! A young woman, maybe older teen, kept singing and dancing, excited to see books. She stopped a few times and we talked books!
I am sure there are so many more stories from our travels and they will keep coming as we have several shows lined up for the rest of the year! 💜
We get so excited to see your excitement! We love the huge smiles, the compliments and squeals of excitement when finding a book you've been searching for. We love recommending books and gifts for your loved ones! We look forward to continuing to share our love of books and finding our people! 💜📚
