I got to visit with my nephews last week and of course I brought them play dough jars ☺️ I loved watching what he created with each jar and all the language he was using. It was such a sweet reminder of how much language can happen naturally through play. 💛
As a speech-language pathologist, one of my favorite things about play is that parents don’t have to quiz their kids to work on language. Instead, we can model language by simply talking about what they’re doing:

✨ “That’s a big moon!”
✨ “He’s hiding under the dough!”
✨ “I wonder what we should make next?”

You don’t need to make your child repeat you or ask question after question. Talk, describe, add a few words to what they say, and follow their lead. The language will come naturally while you play together. 💛

That’s exactly what I hoped these little jars would create—opportunities to play, imagine, connect, and communicate💖
