Many people think suppressors are only about reducing noise, but they offer several benefits beyond hearing protection. Suppressors help reduce felt recoil, minimize muzzle blast, and can even improve shooter confidence by making fi****ms less intimidating to shoot.

For new shooters and young hunters, this can make a huge difference. The loud report and recoil of a rifle can be overwhelming for children or anyone just getting started in the shooting sports. One factor that greatly affects suppressor performance is the type of ammunition being used. Subsonic ammunition travels below the speed of sound, eliminating the loud sonic crack that occurs when a bullet breaks the sound barrier. This results in the quietest possible shooting experience when paired with a suppressor. Supersonic ammunition, on the other hand, travels faster than the speed of sound and still produces that sonic crack, even when fired through a suppressor. While a suppressor will still reduce muzzle blast and overall noise, supersonic rounds will always be louder than subsonic rounds.
