Well… apparently the hard white wheat berries were just as excited for me to be back in the kitchen as I was. 😅🌾

After a few days of not feeling well, I’m finally back to baking and prepping for this weekend… and within minutes, THIS happened.
A full spill of hard white wheat berries all over the floor.

Not exactly the fresh-milled content I had planned for today. 😂

But honestly? This little mess feels a lot like real life and small business baking — sometimes it’s beautiful cinnamon rolls and warm cookies… and sometimes it’s crawling around on the floor scooping up wheat berries one handful at a time.

Still grateful to be feeling better and back at it. ❤️

Spending today resetting from the flu. Hoping tomorrow I will feel well enough to visit family and attend some parades.

I’m so disappointed to share that I will not be at the first The Great Sidney Farmer's Market today. 💔

I woke up very sick this morning, and after a lot of hard decisions, we felt it was best for me to stay home and not attend. I was truly looking forward to today, so it’s hard seeing all the baked goods I prepared not get loaded up and set out for everyone.

Please head downtown and support the other vendors who braved the cold and rainy weather today!

I’m hoping to recover quickly and will plan to see everyone next Saturday.

I do have limited packages of fresh hamburger buns I baked specifically for today’s farmers market, send me a message if you’d like a package. I may be able to arrange porch pickup later this afternoon depending on how I’m feeling.

Thank you all for understanding and supporting my little bakery. 🤍

Weekends like this fill my cup 🤍

A little extra family time… slower moments… and got the garden plowed, disced, and tilled thanks to my awesome husband! 🙌

Now it’s sitting there ready… and I keep asking myself—what should I plant first?

Back in the kitchen this week baking:
🍪 Chocolate chip cookies
🥛 Oatmeal cream pie sandwich cookies
🍌 Banana loaf
🍥 Cinnamon rolls
🍔 Hamburger buns

I love this kind of balance… a little outside, a little in the kitchen 💛

First Farmers Market of the Season!

This is my first year setting up as Heirloom Cottage Kitchen and I’d love to see you there.

Mondays are for baking… Tuesdays are for the day job…
but the dough never really stops. 🤍

This week’s fresh-milled grain is already at work for whole grain sourdough bread in the testing phase (getting close to opening limited orders!)
✨ chocolate chip cookie dough resting overnight for that rich, developed flavor
