The 2026 Summer Archery sessions are underway with the Beginner CUB-1 Classes. Little or no experience young people learning USA Archery’s 11-steps in form and mental development. The best thing is that these kids are having a BLAST!!🏹👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Memorial Day weekend was the Ohio Archers Association Trail shoot held in Ashland Ohio.
ALA team members had a great showing🙌🏻 shooting in several classes while coach was on vacation with his family 😊
Cub class shoots out to 30yds
Youth class shoots out to 50yds
Young Adult & Adult classes shoot out to 100yds
Each archer shoots 80 arrows in this tournament which covers a few miles of walking

I finally got a chance to shoot in a competition this past weekend. The rust was real. Made some bad shots that had me scratching my head. Mainly the release, a couple yardages, and a great IBO Franklin PA 2nd leg of the Triple Crown course that was as challenging as any - EVER. Got to shoot with one of my best buddies Tim Funk who placed 3rd in MHC, Rowland Goble who placed 1st in SMHC, and Johnny Smith. Lots of laughs and good times. My shoot was to many 5’s. Other than that I managed 15th place but felt like I stunk it up pretty good. 374/400 with 13-11s. The fives robbed me - my mistake-live and learn- on to Nelsonville!

You still have time to sign your 8 to 12 year olds up for archery lessons. The Academy is a little different from 4H or the one week camp types. At the Academy your child/youth will have a USA Archery Level 3 Instructor/Trainer. Each person will receive individual coaching teaching the USA Archery 11-step process. There are two rules taught at the Academy. 1st is to BE SAFE!
2nd is to have FUN!! We do have fun.
During the four week program your child/youth will learn the 11 steps of form and begin learning the metal process to become a successful archer.

Archery teaches focus, patience, and resilience. When a shot misses the mark, it becomes feedback. When a shot lands true, it proves the work is paying off. For young people this builds self-esteem, process development, overcoming adversity, sportsmanship and team community.

As one progresses in their archer skills. The growth continues. And the bullseye moments are getting closer every day. 🎯
