It was 1618 Venice; the era of the Honest Courtesans was not what it had been previously, but they were still revered. Vittoria had slowly begun to move up the ranks with Angelo for protection and Elizabetta for all other concerns. Their team was put together by Vittoria’s mother before her death, leaving Vittoria a House to run independently. Obtaining a paramour of rank would solidify her and her House among the premium places to visit. They drew tourists who wanted to taste the scandalous delights of the renowned women of Venice and the local aristocracy.
The Duca Tommasso di Viscardi soiree was an opportunity for Vittoria to advance her reputation. But other interested parties attending would change the lives of all three before the night's end.
Vittoria, Angelo, and Elizabetta were on the verge of being swept away into a night of terror. The creatures of the depravity that stalked Venice had other plans for them.
However, familiarity had become a different chessboard, even for Elizabetta, who had played these games the longest. Angelo loved both girls as daughters and was torn about how best to protect both as the life they had known disappeared in the mist.
