Join the Washington Coalition for Peace and Justice and participating groups on Feb. 20 for a Palestinian-led advocacy day to call on elected representatives to take action towards peace, justice, and equity for Palestinians and our allies in Washington and globally. We ask you to join us in Olympia where we will turn our desire for peace into action, and raise our voices as constituents.

Our Advocacy Day will focus on urging our state legislators to:
Call for an immediate and long-term and permanent ceasefire in Gaza to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
Take urgent action on the requests outlined in our petition - click here to sign if you have not already done so
Demand inclusivity and equity in bills that affect the lives of all Washingtonians around the state.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Joel S. Migdal is Professor Emeritus at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and founding chair of the University of Washington ‘s International Studies Program. In 1993, he received the University of Washington’s Distinguished Teaching Award; in 1994, the Washington State Governor’s Writers Award; in 2006, the Marsha L. Landolt Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award; and, in 2008, the Provost Distinguished Lectureship. Migdal retired in 2019 after 39 years of teaching at the Jackson School. He was formerly associate professor of Government at Harvard University and senior lecturer at Tel-Aviv University. He earned his Ph.D. in Government at Harvard University.

Scott’s family and I are planning a celebration of his very active life on Sunday, September 10, mid-afternoon – exact time to be determined, at the Mercer Island Community Center, 8236 SE 24th St, Mercer Island, WA 98040. It will be hybrid – both in person and by ZOOM.

It will touch the many ways Scott adventured, worked and created!
