For the many who discuss Hip Hop, here is a bit of a history lesson, in honor of SinΓ©ad O'Connor.
There was a time when the Underground was the mainstream. And Hip Hop held a truly positive message, and was bringing youth across the planet closer to God. It was an uphill battle to get the industry to honor Hip Hop at the highest level. Fast forward to now, and what we see at The Grammy's, well, we will leave that away from the discussion.
On February 22nd, 1989, it was the 31st Annual Grammy Awards. And Hip Hop was left out. SinΓ©ad O'Connor, in Solidarity with Hip Hop Culture, and her standing up for us being alienated, would put Hip Hop Culture on screen at all cost if she could help it, wore the Public Enemy logo emblazoned on the side of her head, at The Grammy's.
Word..
She walked the Chicago streets fearlessly. Because she knew she was safe and at home here.
Rest empowered Dear Sister
