Well… that’s an expensive lesson.

While setting up new lighting, I discovered a crack in one of the glass pieces on this sunset panel. I don’t have matching glass to replace it, and replacing a piece in a finished panel isn’t something I’m comfortable tackling yet.

So this one is officially retired before it ever had a chance to be sold.

Sometimes handmade means learning the hard way. 🌅💔

Today’s stained glass project 🌅✨

The design is finally together! After a lot of cutting, adjustments, and problem-solving, it’s ready for the final details.

This is a test run for fit and lighting ideas in an 8” x 8” shadow box, and I’m excited to see where it goes from here.

Next up: cleanup, patina, and figuring out the perfect lighting.

and now I’m just sitting here staring at it like 👀

Do I go ocean vibes?
Plants?
Something abstract?

Clearing out the last of my handmade glass bead jewelry ✨

I’m making room (and funding 😅) for my stained glass obsession, so these beauties are up for grabs. Each piece is one-of-a-kind—lampwork glass beads, some with semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystals.

Ohhh mushrooms 🍄 and snails 🐌 and driftwood!!!! Unfortunately the driftwood is t big enough to hold up either of these pieces but I’m definitely working on it. I am thinking plant stakes, or sun catchers. What do you think?

Finished my first stained glass panel 🫎✨

This moose piece turned into a bit of a lighting experiment. I was nervous about adding hooks because the glass makes the panel pretty heavy, so I started testing backlighting instead.

My first lighting setup created strange bright spots instead of an even glow. After moving the lights around and trying one above and one below, the colors finally came alive the way I imagined when choosing the glass.

Right now it’s sitting in front of a bamboo cutting board while I test the lighting, but the final display will be on a bamboo book stand so it can sit on a shelf or table as a lit display piece.

Still need to apply the black patina to the solder lines, but I’m really happy with how this first panel turned out and everything I learned along the way.

Sometimes a small adjustment makes all the difference. 💡

✨ I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am with how this came out. Truly overjoyed.

This is my first stained-glass piece this big, with this many cuts and tiny pieces, and of course I see a million “issues”… but none of them bother me. Not for a first piece at this scale.

I still need to patina it, and I’m debating whether to add hooks — it’s heavy, and I really don’t want to risk messing it up. (I’ve definitely done that before 😅)

But honestly? Seeing how the colors shift in different light… I’m obsessed. 🌅🦌

I’m really proud of myself for getting to this point.

I had a lot of anxiety about how this would come together — especially those smaller pieces. There were moments I doubted whether I could make it flow the way I saw it in my head.

But I stayed with it.

Now it’s ready for soldering tomorrow. Hoping I’ve got it in me to sit down, focus, and finish strong.

Growth doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like patience, steady hands, and choosing not to quit.

One step closer. ✨
