Yesterday I got to share matcha with students at UCSD Craft Center in their own handmade bowls.
One of the participants, who drinks matcha regularly, commented that he was so surprised how the sweet -okashi- before drinking matcha brought out the flavor of unsweetened tea. Have a wonderful summer everyone⛱️

20th generation chasen master Tanimura Tango finished his West Coast US tour with his final lecture and demonstration yesterday.

"A few years ago, I decided to get out of Japan for several days a year to do these demonstrations abroad, because I wanted the successors of our tea whisk making craft to feel that choosing this life doesn't have to be simply staying in our rural home and making chasen. I want to let them know that the world is interested in our craft." -Tanimura Tango

Thank you JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles for making his last day so special with your beautiful, fully equipped facility, which made it possible for so many people to see him work in person.
