Here we go again guys!! 🫔🔥🏆
25th Tamale Competition is here, and I’m stepping in with gratitude, pride, and a whole lot of corazón.
Someone asked me:
“What makes your tamales special?”
And it reminded me of something deeper…
I’m truly proud to be a part of your family traditions every year.
Your celebrations, your memories, your tables
you’ve welcomed my work into moments that matter.
And with that alone… I’m already a winner.
San Diego 🤎🤎🤎
I will forever be in debt to you. For the love, the support, the warmth, and the way you’ve embraced me and my craft. You’ve given me a place, a purpose, and a community I’m honored to serve.
Thank you for letting me be part of your story.
Here’s how I answered that question… 👇🏽
“What makes my tamales special?
They carry more than flavor, they carry our story.
For the last 8 years, I’ve been grinding, learning, perfecting, holding onto traditions, and putting my whole corazón into every batch of masa I knead. My tamales aren’t just made… they’re earned. Through long nights, early mornings, and the kind of work you feel in your hands and in your soul.
What makes them special is the spirit behind them.
The spirit of our Chicano community. The spirit of family kitchens where stories were told, recipes weren’t written down but passed down. The spirit of resilience, of working hard even when no one is watching, of honoring the generations before us by giving our best to the ones after us.
Every tamal I make carries that grind, that orgullo, that connection to cultura.
It’s 8 years of hustle.
8 years of passion.
8 years of keeping our traditions alive with every fold, every flavor, every batch.
My tamales are special because they come from love, struggle, heritage, and a heart that refuses to let our cultura fade.
These aren’t just tamales.
They’re a piece of us.
They’re a reminder that the Chicano spirit is strong, unstoppable, and full of sabor y corazón.”
