♫♫ Gerry Guthrie - There's A New Moon Over My Shoulder ♫♫
Ballina man Gerry Guthrie has come to the fore in Irish country music over the last few years. Gerry was the recipient of the Country (Dance) Singer of the Year award at the Country Sound (Farmers Journal) awards night in Athlone in March 2014.
Gerry and his band play all the top venues in Ireland and are managed by Henry McMahon, the bandleader with Big Tom and The Mainliners, and also one of Ireland’s bets known country song-writers.
The Mayo man has resurrected New Moon Over My Shoulder, a favourite from back the years, and released it as his new single. The song was a chart topper for the legendary Jim Reeves whose smooth baritone vocals brought magic to the song in the 1960s.
Tex Ritter had the first success with this song back in 1944.
Gerry Guthrie & his Band have been named “Best New Band 2010/2011” at the prestigious Sunday World Music Awards, and Gerry has been awarded “Best New Male Vocalist” at the Tipp FM Music Awards & Album of The Year (Good Country Songs) - Irish Country Sound Awards 2013, nominated for male artist of the year in the RTÉ Irish Country Music Awards.
