Catching striped bass in the surf has been a passion of mine for over 35years, 25 on the west coast. It’s has had its ups and downs but these past 2 years of Bay Area Surfcasting have been especially good to me. Here’s to many more.

Looking forward to the 24’ season. My 20th year fishing the Bay Area coastline. Last season was a good one. This year I hope will be better. A few of my fish caught, photo and released . All lures rigged with 1 belly treble. Not one multiple hooked lure in my bag. Search “one hook solution “ if you fish catch and release and have interest in making it easier and safer to release your catch. I only target striped bass from the surf and the bays. If that’s your thing too, and catch and release is your thing as well, I recommend it.

LDR for the win. You think she wanted it? Responsible C&R always. Thankfully only one belly treble or she might have been hooked in her gullet. No blood, a quick release and most important, no hooks in my hand.

Ocean has been good to me so far. 27”& 34”. C&R always. I lost a monster on Wednesday. Easily over 40”. The big girls fight for survival and the rock and kelp she wrapped me around was her get out of jail free card this time.

Some fish from March April and May. I have a strong feeling that this season is going to good. Practice C&R and land & return those fish quickly. All stripers I catch I release. Been that way since 17’. Tight Lines

Back in 1936, the Marin Striped Bass and Beauty Pageant was held at McNear's. That's a lot of people!

April was as hot as I can remember. May is shaping up to be banging as well. Bait, bass and halibuts for days. Looking forward to seeing them in the surf soon.
