fun fact: i met amy in first grade! i told her that i liked her handwriting on the first day of school and boom, we were best friends for the rest of the year.

making friends is a lot more complicated in 2025. or is it?! you should test it out: next time you see amy, be sure to tell her how nicely pressed her seams are. and ask her how she picked designed her print. or what she’s putting on her next hat! maybe it’ll still work…. maybe talking about stuff that you’ve made is a timeless way to make a new friend 😊

in her neptune + chloroplast bucket hat! she showed up a few hours later than everyone else, pulled out her own sewing machine, and absolutely floored it for 2 hours — she walked out (earlier than everyone else) with a finished hat. in one sitting!! what a legendary speedrun….

i’m so happy that my friends with zero experience and sewing wizard friends (like angie) could sit down together and enjoy the same bucket hat kit project!!

amy making a hat in extremely amy colors! does the design give anyone else violent cravings for a baskin robbins sherbet??

i love it when i see a color and instantly think of someone in my life! if you want to recolor a bucket hat preset to match your signature style, do the following:

1. visit the bucket hat kit product page
2. select the “custom design” variant and your preferred size
3. place order
4. email new hex codes to [email protected]. specify which preset designs you like, and which colors you’d like to replace with your own color theme.
5. you will receive proofs of design ideas, with edit access to tweak design elements like stroke style, shapes, frames, and detailed color assignments!
6. once your design is finalized, it will be turned into a kit and sent to you in ~2 weeks!

i haven’t yet succeeded in teaching my dog how to sew. but i did teach (who is so good with dogs he’s probs got to be at least 75% dog. i will count this as progress).

if you’d like a bucket hat kit to feature your dog, cat, or siblings photoshopped onto turtles, you can do the following:

4. email your images to [email protected].
