Just came across this nice deer resistant list from Plant Delights, many of them winter hardy. And it really is true that it's not a foolproof list, particularly if you fertilize.

(NOTE: the following announcement is in regard to the nursery only and is NOT related to Fry Road Produce which is ramping up for another great year of farmers' markets and CSA memberships.)

Dear local retail customer-friends:

Apparently, even in the mid-1600's "The only thing constant in life [was] change." - François de la Rochefoucauld

Sadly, still true today. Fry Road Nursery has undergone a change and will be closing onsite retail to focus on wholesale custom propagation.

Any outstanding online retail custom orders will be filled and I hope to fit in some fairs and shows and garden club presentations in the future .

But for now, onsite retail will be by appointment only.

Many, many thanks to all of the faithful, helpful, friendly, supportive folks who have so mightily blessed us through these 28 years.

Whatcha think? Every year, the ground seems farther away so I like this as a cheap, versatile way of table gardening...
I think they must mean "straw bale" not "hay bale," though...?

Hay bale gardening is probably the most fun you’ll have growing your own food and herbs, requiring almost no work or maintenance. After a search online to find the simplest and easiest “no work” gardening method, I stumbled upon straw bale gardening.
