Save the Fleet!
We're back after a long break — life and family had other plans for a while. But our shrimp fleet doesn't get that luxury.
They're still grinding through the same hard realities: high operating costs, cheap imported shrimp flooding the market, and the slow loss of working docks where boats can be kept and maintained. It's a crisis of attrition that doesn't make headlines, but it's real. Boats age out. Docks sell to developers. Captains retire and nobody steps in. And suddenly a fleet that took generations to build is just... gone. Quietly.
That's exactly why the Eat Local Shrimp idea is more than a sticker. Awareness is a lever. When people understand that choosing Gulf and Atlantic shrimp is a direct vote for keeping that fleet alive, some of them will actually make a different call at the seafood counter.
If you're a shrimper, boat owner, captain, or run a seafood shop or restaurant that serves fresh catch, we want to get some stickers to you. Send us a message here or shoot an email to [email protected] and we'll work out the details.
