If your soul is heavy today, know that you are not alone. Even though this outcome was not shocking in the slightest (🙃), it's still terrible to see it confirmed that so many citizens simply don't care about protecting our most marginalized communities. Yes, here in NY we managed to pass Prop 1, but also.....how fu***ng absurd is it that we even had to vote on protecting equal rights? On protecting trans and q***r kids? On protecting body autonomy? Anyway, I don't even know where I'm going with this, which is probably why I don't post a lot of outwardly political things here. I just get angry and ramble and want to scream. A lot.
If you need a soft place to land today, please drop by your local library or indie bookstore. So many are posting today, offering a safe place to just BE with other folks, dismayed and disgusted by the results. It's one thing making my heart a tiny bit lighter, seeing so many of the stores that carry my work, coming together to support their communities and offer love on this terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.
