Itās not something you expect when going through infertilityā¦
to defend the fact that you arenāt pregnant.
It was two weeks before I had an egg retrieval.
I was at a party and basically everyone had a drink in their hand, except me who had a water.
Someone came up to me and said, āNot drinkingā¦are you pregnant?ā To which I responded, āno.ā They continued on.
āCāmonā¦you must be pregnant.ā
āNope, I most certainly am not.ā
āWeāll see in nine monthsā¦ā
I ended the conversation with, ātrust me, I wish.ā
It was a moment that has stuck with me because I so badly wanted to be pregnant and having to continuously say that I wasnāt, was another kick in the gut.
And no shade to this person at all because I feel like this has been a social norm for way too long. And before going through infertility, I swear Iād probably done this myself.
So, just a gentle reminder - there can be more than one reason someone doesnāt have a drink in their hand at the partyš«¶š¼
