Beyond the Silence...

I am DeAnn Waggoner. I am a long-time Master's degreed educator and long time ASL interpreter in the Deaf Community. I created Beyond the Silence, because I believe that life and communication should have no barriers.

How we Communicate:

In my posts, you might see me using SimCom (sign +voice simultaneously) along with captions. While I deeply love and respect ASL as a pure language, I chose this method for Global Inclusion:.

*For our Deaf & HoH friends: to provide immediate visual access.

* For our Hearing friends: to allow everyone to learn and communicate together.

* For our international friends: SimCom allows auto-translate feathers to work, reaching every corner of the world.

Our Journey Together:

As my hearing loss progresses, this journey has become more personal and, truthfully a bit scary. I am finding that I need this community more than ever.
