Ranchita Bodega - Downtown Ranchita

Ranchita Bodega - Downtown Ranchita Previously an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Now closed, while exposing racist idiots and working on comic fable series. Veteran Owned and Operated.

Temporary store is open while we rebuild and you might catch us at local events selling raw honey! Not a typical rural market. We specialize in unique items to make enjoying the outdoors simple. Whether you're on a one day road trip or 2,000 mile adventure, we are the place to stop.

Like I promised, we have been researching everything. That includes requesting any and all public records from anyone who had contact with the people who harassed us out of our business.

Supervisor Jim Desmond office came up. Because they chose to entertain a delusional complaint from the MVVCSO Comptroller requesting a county investigation into our business. We already have that document. It was produced through a public records request to Code Compliance. His policy staff responded to MVVCSO the same day they reached out. Coordinating with the people harassing us. While ignoring every report we made that we were being targeted.

We then submitted a public records request directly to Supervisor Jim Desmond's office. Because if they responded to MVVCSO that fast, what else did those people send to an elected official? And what did his office do with it?

After over a month they came back and said they needed more time to review. Seemed highly suspicious, basically strategizing on how to not look bad.
Then after a few more weeks they came back with this.

"No records."

This is an absolute lie.

We already have a document produced by the county's own Code Compliance office showing Supervisor Desmond's staff receiving and forwarding an MVVCSO complaint about our business on January 30, 2023. His policy aide emailed Code Compliance the same day with the subject line "Policy aide reaching out." His staff were CC'd. His name was CC'd. That email exists. We have it. The county produced it.

And his office is claiming no records exist is an out right lie. But more importantly why are they lying...what is so bad that they are willing to take this risk?

This is a lie from the office of a man who is currently running for Congress representing the 48th Congressional District of California.
The same backcountry communities he ignored while his staff coordinated with people who were trying to steal our business.

Supervisor Desmond ran on common sense returning to government πŸ™„. He said the community deserves a representative who understands their challenges firsthand.

Here is a challenge firsthand, Jim. A veteran owned business in Ranchita came to your office for help while your staff was already working with the people harassing us. You ignored us. Now your office is saying those records do not exist when we are holding proof that they do.

We will be filing a formal complaint. This is not going away.

And if you are voting in the 48th District this November, you should know who you are voting for.

What are ya'll doing to survive this heat?!! Not sure which is more torturous. This humid heat πŸ₯΅or thoughts of impending SDG&E billπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ 😫 😭

Try to stay cool out there. Check on your neighbors and for the love of God...hold off on eating lettuce πŸ’© (might be more produce on the list too, please confirm)

I do like story reminders....but sometimes it irritates the crap out of me. Because it reminds me of all the stuff we were offering. Trying to do the best we can with what we have. And even according to a few PCT hikers was a boatload better than most other retail businesses in rural California.
All the while a COMMUNITY non-profit board members was putting in work to destroy us in an effort to take what we worked for. But I digress.

Recently Facebook has made it possible to see whose lurking on your page/profile through stories. I highly recommend posting a story as a trap and see whose checking in and then block their sorry a$$es. We need to be more picky with who has access to our social media footprint. I've been blocking like crazy past few weeks. It feels gross to have certain type of people constantly watching especially when they mean you harm by any means possible. Please protect your space and your peace.

How do you like our additional name? Since there is a west ranchita 🀑 we might as well claim our section πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

A San Diego infectious disease doctor says it's probably best to stay away from fresh produce for the next week or so, even if you wash it. That's because a f***l parasite illness, known as cyclosporiasis, has now reached California. NBC 7's Shandel Menezes has the details.

This was just brought to my attention. I'm honestly impressed by the audacity while also being saddened. Saddened because Bonnie still feels so comfortable to host a bold code violation event that she has sent numerous anonymous complaints against the store and the community non-profit she was forced to step down from.
I don't live in Ranchita ....only there to work my bees. But for those that live there, have little kids

Bonnie has caused some damage to the dynamic of your town. Straight wrecking anything of value to the community. And yet she feels so comfortable to broadcast this. To share this on the community page πŸ₯΄...unfortunately we can't comment on the post because we're blocked from the page 😈. They couldn't handle my aura 😁

But seriously what must Bonnie and her flock think of the adults in the town to be this bold?

We have officially submitted our formal opposition letter regarding the proposed Golden Pacific Powerlink.

Our letter outlines why we believe routing a 500-kV transmission line through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park would have lasting impacts on one of Southern California's last truly wild landscapes. It highlights concerns about wilderness, wildlife habitat, scenic resources, cultural sites, dark skies, and the precedent this project could set for future industrial development in and around the Park.

We invite you to read the letter and learn more about the concerns raised as this project moves through the stakeholder process.

Read the full letter here:https://theabf.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/GPP_Letter_FINAL.pdf

The stakeholder feedback period remains open through early November 2026, and there is still time to make your voice heard before the project enters formal regulatory review. Together, we can help ensure the future of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is shaped by informed public engagement and thoughtful stewardship.
