ON A BREAK // Hey there, chocolate friendlies! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Well... there’s a reason for that. In February I fell ill and just didn’t bounce back. When you’re a one-woman show, that means everything grinds to a halt.

After lots of tests, doctor’s visits, and supplements aplenty, I’m thrilled to report I’m finally on the mend. Not quite 100% yet, but hey, my current 90–95% feels pretty darn phenomenal. I’m loving having energy again.

But what does this mean for Christa’s Chocolates? Well... for now, a hiatus. I started keto on doctor’s orders to heal my gut and thereby boost my immune system, so crispies are out of the question for a few months.

Meanwhile, my adventure needs telling. Today is the three-year anniversary of when I set out for the long haul through 39 states (40 if we count the Colorado pre-trip) in four months. That trip stretched me but also taught me how loved I am—by friends who happily hosted me, and by a God who was gracious enough to open the way for me to make a dream come true. I think about my trip all the time, and I want to use the next few months reliving each day’s adventures on my website, RoutesAndRoots.com. You can also follow along on the Insta (once I, um, figure out how to get into the account again 😬).

And so, for a season, Christa’s Chocolates is on a break. I’ve signed up for a writers’ retreat in November and want to focus on knocking out my magnum opus in the interim.

But don’t you worry—we just may be back in business by Christmas. 🎅🏻 Meanwhile, here’s to listening to the heart when it begs for rest and reflection, and for trusting the reasons behind life’s rhythms and seasons. Things come as we need them—and the best is yet to come!

(But, ohhhhhhhh, it felt like HOME to drizzle these besitos de coco tonight!!! That alone told me that I’m not done creating chocolate delights for good. Just for a season.)
