🌅 Fenner Hill Golf Club , Hope Valley RI — This place needs to be on your radar.
We pulled up just as the sun was going down over the course. The greens, the old stone walls, the gazebo, that dramatic sky — it honestly looked like a painting. We almost just stayed outside.
But the restaurant? The restaurant is why you really go.
The inside is quiet and unassuming. No over the top country club feel. Just really, really good food coming out of that kitchen.
The specials board stopped us immediately.
The Spicy Shrimp Fajita Pasta — cavatappi pasta tossed with plump seared shrimp, fajita peppers, fresh herbs, and a dusting of parmesan — had real heat and real personality. Bold and satisfying in a way you don’t expect from a golf club. And right alongside it on the specials:
Pork Mole. Tender pulled pork over creamy polenta, covered in a deep, glossy mole sauce, topped with pico de gallo and broccolini. Rich, complex, and honestly one of the best things we’ve eaten in a long time.
From the regular menu, the Shrimp Kebab is a must. Look at those skewers — grilled shrimp with zucchini, yellow squash, and red pepper over white rice. The vegetables still have their snap, the shrimp is genuinely fresh, and the whole plate is as beautiful as it is delicious.
Then the Chicken Parm Sandwich arrived and the table went quiet. Two enormous crispy chicken pieces, completely smothered in melted cheese and marinara, tucked into pillowy house-made bread with a heaping pile of seasoned fries. The basil flavor was clear and intentional — not an afterthought — and it made every bite feel elevated.
You would never guess from the outside what’s happening in that kitchen. That’s exactly what makes Fenner Hill special.
