Overwatering tips for beginners! 🌿✨

Overwatering is the number one ender of all houseplants nationwide and is permanent unless you catch it early on.

Your first signs of overwatering could be a stench coming from your soil, dark brown mushy leaves, more fungus gnats than normal, or just stunned growth.

But there’s many ways to prevent it by making sure your plant has time to breathe in between waterings.

If it’s constantly moist your roots aren’t getting that dryness they need to process the water effectively.

Now what is underwatering? ⬇️🌿✨

Underwatering is when your plants dry out for too long

Watering is not about how much water you give them but how after you are watering them

Plants that handle under watering well like to fully dry out or dry out most of the way between waterings and bounce back quick

So there’s definitely options for you to keep houseplants if you are bad about forgetting to water them because certain plants are specifically designed to be drought tolerant

So we all hate fungus gnats…

Fungus Gnats are these little flying bugs that look like any other gnat but they live in your soil. They are a top tier pests and they take over QUICKLY.

Last one is gonna make a few people mad… 🌿✨

Myth #1 There’s plants that will thrive in low light. This is simply just good marketing and you will notice the terms were updated to “will tolerate low light”. Plants need light to produce food to produce more leaves and just because a plant declines slower doesn’t mean it’s thriving

Myth #2 Succulents are a good beginner plant. Yeah no… I always say a good first plant is a forgiving. This means it can tolerate under and over watering and bounce back quickly. Succulents and cacti are not forgiving when it comes to watering issues or lighting issues and can die very rapidly

Myth #3 Self watering pots are better than regular pots. Again this one varies but in my personal experience all plants need a dry out period and should never be 100% moist all the time.
