Our Ranunculus corms are pre-sprouting and will be planted in the hoop house this weekend! We’ll post the process here once they’re all tucked into the soil.

i had little sense at how color can slow your mind down or speed it right up - that’s until i started working with flowers. i rummage through the flower plot, adding stems to the ones already gripped in my hand, and i see how the mood changes. this morning i tripped through the woods at plainfield looking for grasses and interesting stems to add to the mix. i kept hearing a neighbor issue a deer call, so i foraged more and more noisily. fall is such a sweet time. -j

enjoy this photoshoot we had with last nights celosia cuts.
we really like these Dr. Seuss looking blooms.
did you know they’re edible?! celosia, commonly known as “woolflowers,” are members of the amaranth family. they kinda taste like spinach and contain minerals and vitamins commonly found in leafy greens.
these coral-like, flame-like flowers thrive in dry, sunny conditions so they’ve been loving the heat this week.

it’s midsummer and we’re hustling away to get these beauties cut, conditioned and out to you lovely folks.
we condition our cut flowers at least 12 hours either in the cooler or in a cool, dark area depending on the type of bloom.
this way your fresh cuts aren’t shocked when we transport them,
and by the time you get them home and in a vase they’re well adjusted to cut flower life.
thanks to all the wonderful feedback of the longevity of our cuts. now you know how much time and love go into each stem.
