One really cool moment of my 2025 was this Pike that smashed my .cal.kat striper plug. Since having this custom plug made, I have not had the health and/or opportunity to break it in on a striper. During my Montana road trip however, I saw Pike busting on bait and knew this was my chance. It officially has its first teeth marks!

Grass carp are easily one of the most overlooked species of fish in the United States. Also referred to as the “White Amur”, they are native to Asia and were imported to the US as a way to control w**d growth in lakes and ponds. They are extremely spooky, highly intelligent, and grow large, which would explain why I have such a large smile on my face after catching this behemoth (hook and reel). Now to catch one even bigger!

The warm weather had been treating me well, including a new species! I have been wanting to cross a grass carp off my list for a long time, so I’m stoked to finally have an opportunity. Smellin like trout time now😈
