Ah yes... the ultra-rare Black Scorpion Tongue pepper. Not only rare, but also very difficult to keep alive in Illinois. Started with 20 plants; 4 survived and only 1 plant is actively producing peppers while the other 3 plants produce minimally.
Now lets talk about flavor and heat. At first, the flavor isn't made known. As you wait a few seconds for your tongue to register a flavor, the heat kicks in and you forget to pay attention to the flavor. After a minute or two, this unique flavor slams your senses! Even 2 or 3 hours later, you can still taste this curiously amazing flavor on your lips.
Hundreds of tiny peppers were harvested from these 4 surviving plants, and 11 bottles of sauce were produced.
You could live your whole life and NEVER experience what this pepper offers!
This pepper has a heat profile that comes in at around 50k-100k SHU's.
