Oh, hey friends! I had an amazing conversation with a customer in March about the purpose behind Kinky Ink, and I realized that it never hurts to lead with your purpose, especially for the new faces in my life.
First, let me introduce myself. I’m Stefanie. A 20-year educator. A mom to two grown(ish) kids. A board game store owner with my husband. And I’ve been a reader since before I can remember.
Reading is power. There’s a reason that, historically, the poor, women, and marginalized people faced various large and small barriers to reading. For too long, reading romance of any kind has been treated as “fake” reading, used to make romance readers the butt of a joke, to make them feel small, to pass judgement against them. If you have ever been part of or witnessed a conversation where a romance reader was asked what they’re reading, you may have seen the moment they freeze, deciding whether it’s safe to be honest. Kinky Ink was born from the desire to take the shame and embarrassment out of reading romance, not just for women, to highlight nonfiction and women’s issue fiction, and to build community.
Thank you for being here with me, for embracing the joy of a good story, and for supporting my small business!
