Senior Cords & It’s influence on modern day clothing:

Originating at Purdue University in 1904, a tradition where seniors painted their skirts or pants as a “wearable yearbook.” Becoming popularized at High Schools in Indiana as a way to express students lives before adulthood. Pictured in slides (3,4) are Bodes take on recreating senior cords, an awesome concept in a more professional way, creating wearable art. Original senior cords are still highly collectible in the vintage community as they are a piece of history and tell quite the story. Ralph Lauren also has a lot of stencil work that is quite similar to ones of senior cords, possibly not an exact one off, but taking inspiration for sure.
