Sometimes horses just make weird choices. Bobbi was great at loading until today. So when we came home, we spent some time working through it. Now she’s back to following me on and even walks on herself! Never a dull moment with horses. Also, don’t come for me, that’s not sweat! She got rained on 🤣

They literally sleep like this every night 🥹

I just had to put blankets on Bobbi and the donkeys 😅🫠🤮

Found this little spicy noodle under a rock that I needed for my disc harrow! This is an adult DeKay’s Brown Snake and it’s safe to say it was not happy to see me 🤣 Full grown, they’re typically 9-13 inches so they’re super small. Even if you don’t like snakes (talking to you, Mom), their role is vital and welcomed on our farm! This little guy feeds on slugs, snails, and insects so will be a great friend in pest control for the garden!

This extension cord and I have some serious beef 😅 Do you have a pet peeve that shouldn’t ruin your day but definitely does? 🤣

This is the second piece of equipment we’ve dug out of the pucker brush on the farm this spring! A little bit of adjusting and some fresh grease later and it has been vital in getting the garden bed ready for planting! Where the rototiller failed, this disk harrow absolutely ate up the ground! So thankful for the farmers before us for leaving these literal hidden treasures and for my step-dad for hauling this thing out of the woods!

In order to keep Bobbi’s mind at peace we got the ok from the vet to modify her stall rest. She’ll get a makeshift outdoor stall for 7 days which will allow her to eat grass and see her friends. Also, I needed to mow over there anyway so bonus! 🤣

Sometimes with horses, you have to pick the lesser of evils. Bobbi doesn’t like being left in the barn by herself and so we modified her stall rest with the approval of her vets.

This area is actually smaller than her stall but gives her brain “turnout time”. She gets to eat grass and see her friends while still restricting movement. The small area will give her less opportunity to re-injure and will keep her much happier.

Hopefully it’ll also lower any chances of her acting crazy when it’s time to go back into the pasture. When it comes to farming and animal husbandry, the ability to adapt is vital.

Happy Memorial Day!Today we take a moment to remember the soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our liberties. 🇺🇸

Thank you so much to the amazing team at New England Equine for their willingness to see her on a holiday. We are thankful to have access to amazing equine vets!
