**What's currently biting at Packery Channel**

Sheepshead are stacked up along the jetties right now like convicts at chow time, and they’re getting whacked in big numbers. Live shrimp, cut crab, and small crabs have been doing the dirty work around the rocks.

Spanish Mackerel are hanging near the ends of the jetties and have been snapping at live shrimp and small spoons. If you see that water start flashing and cutting up, get ready, because those silver missiles are in the neighborhood.

Flounder have been getting picked up near the rocks on the surf side when the seas settle down enough to fish it right. Best move has been freelining live shrimp and letting it drift natural along the rocks like an easy snack washing through the buffet line.

Redfish and trout have been showing up on the surf side from the middle of the jetties out to the ends. Best baits have been live shrimp, live mullet, and cut whiting. If the water stays halfway decent, that surf side bite can turn real pretty in a hurry.

Skipjack and Jack Crevalle have also been crashing the party at the ends of the jetties during the early morning hours. For the jacks, chunk a 1-ounce silver spoon and hang on. If the skipjack keep jumping in like uninvited cousins at a fish fry, bump up to a 3-ounce silver spoon so you can punch through the chaos and get down to business.

The **361 Bridge** area has also been giving up Sheepshead, Flounder, Black Drum, and slot redfish. Best offerings over there have been live shrimp, fresh dead shrimp, silver spoons, and topwater lures.

If you’re fishing the jetties right now, bring shrimp, crabs, a few silver spoons, and a little patience around the rocks. There’s enough action out there to keep your rod bent and your arms honest.
