Everyone’s panicking about the SIR and HR Charizards…
As a 1999 Base Set OG, let me share my thoughts.
Modern Pokémon has people expecting instant results. When prices don’t spike immediately, “overprinted” and “dead card” get thrown around fast.
Yes, grading pops are rising, mostly PSA. That doesn’t mean the cards are worthless. It means they’re being preserved, and most slabs don’t cycle back into the market.
Short-term flippers and long-term collectors are playing two different games.
These are iconic Charizard arts and the face of the set. The worst time to judge value is while printing is active and panic selling is happening.
Time has always been on Charizard’s side.
How long do you think a modern set needs before its true value shows?
