We quietly cut the ribbon at Simply Stitching Ocala last week, just my family and I before I was set to open. Today the shop opens for the first time at 11 am. It’s a difficult day for me, holding both joy and grief in my heart at the same time.
I couldn’t have done this without my husband, Ken. He worked countless hours beside me, believed in me when I doubted myself, and helped turn this dream into a reality.
I am so incredibly grateful for my family, my friends, and this amazing crafting community who have supported me every step of the way.
And now… the doors are officially OPEN. 🧵🧶✨

I have received several messages like this. I have tried my best to put out that I didn't open my store as planned. I put it on my website, Facebook, Instagram and Google my Business. A friend put a sign on the door saying closed due to a family emergency which was the unexpected passing of my husband's 50 year old sister. We left in the middle of the night to be with my in laws and help navigate all the things. People need to have Grace for others when emergencies happen. Even if it was an inconvenience for you driving over, the sign on the door says family emergency. It's craft supplies you are wanting, not life saving equipment you need and I'm okay if you aren't going to be a customer.

Due to a death in our family, we had to unexpectedly postpone our store opening. Thank you so much for your kindness, understanding, and support during this difficult time.
We will now officially open our doors on Tuesday, February 24th.
We appreciate this community more than you know and look forward to welcoming you into Simply Stitching Ocala very soon.

Regular Store Hours:
• Tuesday: 11:00 – 6:00
• Wednesday: 9:30 – 4:00
• Thursday: 9:30 – 4:00
• Friday: 9:30 – 4:00
• 1st & 3rd Saturday: 9:00 – 1:00
A few important notes:
• We do not accept cash (card payments only).
• We do not have a public restroom available.

While you’re visiting, be sure to stop by our wonderful neighbors at Pink & Sweet Bakery/Restaurant next door and treat yourself to something delicious!

We’ve had a few little hiccups along the way (because of course we did 😅), and we also welcomed a brand new granddaughter into the family that I’ve been helping care for 💕
Life has been busy in the very best way, but the intention is still to open on February 17th. I appreciate everyone’s patience, encouragement, and excitement more than you know.
I’ll continue to share updates as we get closer.

I wasn’t contacted about this article, but I do appreciate them sharing. I did want to clarify that the title “New Sewing Shop” isn’t quite accurate.
Simply Stitching Ocala will carry yarn for crochet and knitting, a small selection of cotton precut fabrics for quilting and sewing, and some cross-stitch supplies. It’s a small shop, and at this time there will not be space for classes.

Inventory processing started bright and early at 6:30am today!
It’s taking a little longer than planned thanks to a few unavoidable delays, but progress is happening. Still aiming for an opening in the 2nd or 3rd week of February — I’ll keep everyone updated!

Getting closer to flooring. My husband and I painted late into the evening last night. New outlet covers on, windows clean, new door handles and a new mailbox installed.

Another after-work project complete.
I measured, carried, and held, while Ken did the heavy work.
Just 1.5 hours later and the nickel gap accent wall is up behind where the checkout counter will be.
Teamwork really does make the dream work.

Next up: crown molding, then paint
